FACES. FACE ANGLES.
Let me tell you about my recent nerve-scourge, Ciri’s (Witcher 3) face. I knew going in that up-angles on faces are generally kind of, well, not easy. I’ve done a few before. The chin just refuses to behave, no matter how hard you try. I knew that but I said, “Well, I’m kind of hella baller at art, so I should be able to do it without a reference on my first try.” Save for Napoleon’s march on Soviet Russia in the winter, humanity has never been more wrong, so betrayed by their own misgivings as to the hopefulness of an outcome.
Here’s what I had to stare at for several hours.

I scratched my head and set it aside for a week, as my stomach was turning from staring at such an abomination in the eyes of the lord. I came back and did manage to un-picasso this poor woman. I had to move and rescale literally every facial feature but, at least now she does look like she might’ve been born on this planet.
The side-by-side:
The second version is so beautiful! She looks so soft now, and honestly I’m mesmerized by the light reflecting off of her lips and cheeks!
